  1. What is Infrared Thermography?

Infrared thermography is the easiest and quickest method to detect energy waste, insulation deficiencies, moisture and electrical issues in buildings. An infrared camera shows exactly where the problems are and helps focus the inspectors' attention allowing him or her to properly diagnose areas with energy loss.

  2. What is a thermal imaging camera?

A thermal imaging camera is a reliable non contact instrument which is able to scan and visualize the temperature distribution of building surfaces and electrical equipment quickly and accurately.

  3. Who can carry out an IR Thermography inspection?

The technician should be a certified thermographer.

  4. What does an IR thermography inspection entail?

The interior and exterior surfaces of the home are scanned using the thermal imaging camera to identify cold and hot spots. This non-invasive procedure is used as a diagnostic tool to identify various issues such as sub-standard insulation levels, heat losses, overheating of electrical components, plumbing leaks and water infiltration into the building envelope.

  5. Why don’t all home inspections include thermal imaging?

This technology is very expensive and prohibitive for many home inspectors. InSpecRes is able to offer the services of a certified thermographer to clients seeking added value to the standard home inspection completed in accordance with the Standards of Practice, or as a stand alone service. Thermography has contributed to substantial cost savings to homeowners around the world.

  6. Who is the certified thermographer?

David Carty is an InSpecRes associate and a Level 1 Certified Thermographer.

  7. Is the contract for an IR Thermography inspection between the client and InSpecRes?
